I had this one in my Kindle library for a long time and finally I read it. Frankly telling you, I am not sure why I hadn’t read it earlier. It’s a short quick and easy read.
Devika has a very rich vocabulary which is not at all intimidating. I love to discover new words so I throughly enjoyed that. This was her debut novel and you can make that out in the writing but it engages you nonetheless. The emotional tussle between the human heart and mind is beautifully described as the plot unfolds. The characters are very likable. I really like authors who make strong female protagonists, and Devika has done a beautiful job with Cathy in the story.
“You will never get on with life and be yourself if you keep looking back, if there are past values and experiences tainting the new ones.”
“…thoughts are more potent in their magic than the spoken word.”
“…her breaking out of her chrysalis and turning from timid caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly testing out its fragile, yet shiny wings.”
These are just a few of the prose that really stood out.
I would recommend this book as a light read that you can devour in a few hours.
My rating is 4 stars.
**I don’t give books rating below 3 (at least not as yet), because it takes a lot to write and sometimes it may not connect with me but the effort is definitely appreciated. **
